Hz to kW Calculator

Frequency (Hz) and power (kW) are connected through electrical system parameters like voltage, current, and power factor. This calculator helps you estimate the power output or consumption of motors and electrical systems based on operating frequency and other key variables.

Important Note

Hertz alone cannot directly convert to kilowatts. You need additional electrical parameters like voltage, current, and power factor. For motors, frequency determines the synchronous speed, which combined with torque gives you mechanical power output.

Formulas Used

Three-Phase Power (Electrical Mode)
kW = (√3 × V × I × PF × η) ÷ 1000
Where V = Voltage, I = Current, PF = Power Factor, η = Efficiency
Motor Speed Formula
RPM = (120 × f) ÷ P
Where f = Frequency (Hz), P = Number of Poles
Mechanical Power (Motor Mode)
kW = (Torque × RPM) ÷ 9550
Torque in Nm, RPM from frequency and pole count

How to Use This Calculator

Choose your calculation method based on what information you have available:

  • Electrical Mode: Use when you know voltage, current, and power factor from electrical measurements.
  • Motor Mode: Use when you have motor specifications like pole count and torque output.
  • Simple Mode: Use for quick estimation when you have rated power and want to see the effect of frequency changes (VFD applications).
