mL Per Hour Calculator

The mL Per Hour Calculator helps you figure out how fast a liquid needs to flow. You simply enter the total volume and how long it should take, and the tool gives you the rate in milliliters per hour. This comes in handy for IV infusions, lab work, and any situation where you need controlled fluid delivery.

Quick Example

If you need to deliver 1000 mL over 8 hours, the flow rate is 125 mL per hour. That means the liquid should flow at about 125 milliliters every single hour for the full 8-hour period.

Formulas Used

Basic Formula
mL per Hour = Total Volume (mL) ÷ Time (Hours)
This is the standard calculation for finding flow rate when you know the total volume and duration.
When Time is in Minutes
mL per Hour = Total Volume ÷ (Time in Minutes ÷ 60)
Divide minutes by 60 to convert to hours first.
IV Drip Rate (Medical)
Drops per Minute = (mL/hr × Drop Factor) ÷ 60
The drop factor depends on the IV tubing used (10, 15, 20, or 60 gtt/mL).
