kPa to Litres per Second: How Pressure Converts to Flow
Pressure and flow rate are related but measure different things. Pressure is force per unit area, while flow rate tells you how much fluid moves through a pipe each second. Converting between them requires knowing the pipe size and fluid properties.
The Physics Behind It
The conversion happens in two steps. First, pressure becomes velocity using Bernoulli's principle. Then velocity becomes flow rate using the pipe's cross-sectional area.
Velocity = √(2 × 100000 ÷ 1000) = 14.14 m/s
Flow = 0.00196 × 14.14 × 1000 = 27.7 L/s
